The exhibition “Beyond Visible: The Public Sculpture of Vera Dajht-Kralj” explores the sculpture in public space made by sculptress Dajht-Kralj, representing the least examined part of her opus, encompassing around 20 sculptures, busts, reliefs and monuments, as well as over 30 tender projects for public sculptures, mostly in Croatia, but also in Macedonia, Slovenia, Serbia, Canada, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Switzerland. The exhibition also showcases numerous unrealized tender projects and proposals alongside completed sculptures, presented to the public for the first time and covering the time span from 1954 to 2008. Sketches, drawings, models, tender projects, sculptures and poems illustrate the developing idea of the sculptress’ visual, but also thought processes, and are presented as an important part of the very work on sculpture projects in public space. The exhibition is divided into topic areas that include the basic aspects of each part of her opus, the relationship of the sculpture to space, communication with passersby, the human figure representation, rhythm and color, metamorphosis of shape and the cooperation with architects on joint projects.

The exhibition represents the final phase of a multi-year research and is part of a broader project of archiving and digital processing, conservation and restoration of the Vera Dajht-Kralj Collection, now part of the protected cultural heritage of Croatia. The goal of the project conducted within Živi Atelje DK (Living Atelier DK), with the participation of experts and students of art history, museology and restoration, is to preserve the heritage and make it visible and permanently accessible to the broader public.

The entire exhibition was organized by a non-governmental organization in a way that can inspire similar associations to do the same with their collections. Young people, curators, designers, gallery coordinators, artists and other enthusiasts are the backbone of Živi Atelje DK (Living Atelier DK).

The exhibition was conceptualized to go beyond only showing the final result of the competition entry for a monumental sculpture. The exhibition was conceptualized to also show the development of an idea through the creative process in the artistic medium of drawing, painting and sculpture medium.

This is the reason for which we highly recomment this exhibition to all especially those who are involved in creative work.
